Paul 'The Rev' James, former guitarist in much talked about punk band Towers of London and more recently, The Prodigy, has formed a band with Sham 69 frontman Jimmy Pursey.

The band, known as Day 21, also features bassist Matt Sargent and ex Towers of London drummer, 'Snell'.

Sham 69, known for hits 'Hersham Boys' and 'If the Kids Are United' called The Rev after his stint with The Prodigy ended in February this year.

"Jimmy asked me and Snell if we wanted to put something together," says The Rev.

SInce then the four musicians have been working on an album at London's Dean Street studios, where Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars was recorded.

"We've been doing a few showcases around London and we're looking to tour later in the year," continues The Rev.

"We have got about 15 tracks ready and we're toying with a few names for the album."

The Rev, who says he's at his happiest with Day 21, says Jimmy is a "cracking man and a fantastic songwriter."

"He's been around a while and he's got all the scars and the stories to prove it.

"He's a great guy – Mad Uncle Jimmy we all call him. He's got all the energy of a 19-year-old punk and he's still going strong.

"We've had lots of label interest with Day 21 and there's a lot of people waiting to hear the finished article. It's all going well."
