A PROFESSIONAL dance duo from Morecambe have just got back from a busy weekend at Britain's biggest chilli festival.
John Seddon and Lynne Fletcher, newly qualified salsa teachers, spent the weekend at Levens Hall at the Lakes Chilli Festival teaching salsa to keen members of the public.

Lynne said: "It was fantastic. We had a band playing Sunday and they were b
rilliant. The weather was dreadful on Sunday but it didn't stop people enjoying themselves.

"There were loads of people dancing in the salsa tent and everyone joined in. It was great."

The event was the first ever Chilli Festival in the north of England.

Brave visitors were able to try the hottest chillis around whilst there was a selection of jams, jellies, chocolate, sauces, seeds, powders, chutneys and many other chilli-related gift items on sale.

Other added attractions over the weekend included local food producers going 'hot' for the occasion, cookery demonstrations and children's activities.

Susan Bagot, owner of Levens Hall, said: "It was a highly successful weekend with around 4,000 visitors. We had a few parking problems with all the mud but everyone who came to the festival seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

"The stall holders were very pleased with the business they did and everyone who came seemed to think it was a novel idea. I hope everyone enjoyed it."

* John and Lynne hold regular salsa classes at the Vale of Lune Rugby Club in Lancaster and the Railway Club in Carnforth.
