PEOPLE need to be made aware of the suffering that can be caused by deliberate or accidental breeding (in dogs, cats and other animals).
People pay to have pedigree puppies (or other) when there are many stray animals, some thankfully rescued and in shelters waiting for loving homes.
When animals are not neutered or spayed (especially cats,
wandering around by themselves) there can easily be several more animals – more than the owner can cope with.
Even when people plan the births they need to be sure that caring homes can be provided for all – and they are adding to a population when many are without homes.
Anyone wanting to take on a new pet needs to consider whether they can cope with it and provide all it needs, and if they would rather give a new home to one in a rescue centre or more money to a pedigree or pet shop breeder.
