Kathleen Blackburn, from Lytham St Anne's (staying for one night with husband George):
"I'm from Bradford and I used to see the hotel in the late 40s when I got off the train in Morecambe.

"I used to wonder what it would be like to stay there. The hotel was dreadful a few years ago so we've been waiting and watching on TV to see wh
at happened to it.

"We booked for one night. We tried for two nights but couldn't get in this first week.

"It's got everything you need in a hotel. The view is amazing. The chairs are certainly different! Somebody likened them to a train carriage.

"They're very comfortable. It will be better once the staff know what they're doing.

"Since we arrived it's been like Piccadilly Station with so many people coming in and out."

Susan Irwin, from Skipton
(staying for two nights with husband Peter):

"I came here in the 60s with my parents so I thought it would be nice to stop here.

"I'm a bit surprised it's not finished.

"We've been told we can't go on the roof terrace and I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted to sit in the sun."

Peter Irwin:
"We booked a room back in November over the Internet.

"It was booked up for the first night so we went for the second and third.

"We haven't seen our room yet but I bet the views from the balcony will be fantastic.

"Morecambe's much nicer than Blackpool."
