PROMOTERS of Morecambe's popular 'white collar' boxing nights have confirmed that former World Heavyweight Champion 'Terrible' Tim Witherspoon will box on their next event at The Carleton on Friday, October 17.
As exclusively revealed in The Visitor two weeks ago, the American – who knocked out Frank Bruno at Wembley Stadium in 1986 – will face Morecambe businessman Alan Lingwood Snr in the main event of the evening.

Also making a return to gloved combat on the charity show will be Alan's sons Alan, Andrew and Sam, and Morecambe ex-pro boxer Lee Woodruff.

Lee will fight for the first time since 2004 against another former professional, Ian Toby.

Woodruff said: "It will be a hard fight, probably one of the hardest I have had up to now."

Lee has also branched out into the growing sport of mixed martial arts, training regularly in Preston with coach Glyn Powditch.

He has been putting the Morecambe man through his paces in Brazilian JuJitsu and improving his groundwork to complement his boxing talents.

* For ticket information for this boxing event please call promoter Philip Riley on 07862 131969.
